Osun 2014: LP ’ll halt capital flight to Lagos — Nwayanwu •... As Akinbade receives party’s flag
WITH less than a month to the Osun 2014 governorship
election, the national chairman of Labour Party (LP), Mr
Dan Nwayanwu, on Saturday in Osogbo, said his party
would immediately halt alleged capital flight to Lagos
and reinvigorate the economy of the state to banish
poverty.
Nwayanwu, who officially presented the flag of the LP
to the party’s standard bearer in the August 9 poll,
Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, said “LP is the only progressive
political party in Nigeria”, stressing that “our governor,
Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, would not pay returns to any
political godfather anywhere”.
According to him, “in Labour Party, we don’t deceive the
people nor peddle lies. After August 9, when you must
have voted for our party, there would immediate
stoppage to capital flight in Osun, which is retarding
the economic growth of this state”. Mimiko was able to
do all he did in Ondo State because the money
accruable to Ondo is revolving within the economy of
the state”.
Nwayanwu contended that “we want to elect a
government in Osun that will not pay returns to
anybody; a government that would utilise the funds of
the state for the people.”
Commenting on Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s
educational policy, the LP national chairman promised
that seeming high tuition fees being paid by students in
the state owned tertiary institutions, which he noted
had been on strike over 5 months ago would be
drastically reduced to consider the plights of indigent
students.
On the recent collapse of a structure in one of the mega
schools, constructed by the state government, in
Ejigbo, Nwayanwu asserted that “I learnt that a mega
school collapsed few days ago. It is because they give
contracts anyhow, without due process, to settle
people. Then, the mega school collapsed. Come to
Ondo State and see our mega schools. The difference is
clear”.
Efforts made to get the reaction of Governor
Aregbesola’s Director of Bureau of Communications
and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, for reaction were
not successful as repeated calls made to his cellphone
were not answered while text messages forwarded to
him was neither replied at this time of filing this report.
