Oyo 2015:Accord, PDP, 6 APC lawmakers in crucial meeting
As 2015 general election gradually draws nearer,
political calculatons towards the elections in Oyo State
is taking shape as 14 members of the opposition in Oyo
State House of Assembly- Accord Party and the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), six members of the ruling All
Progressves Party(APC), last week, held a meeting at an
undisclosed location in the state.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that an all night meeting was
held at an undisclosed hotel, and that all the 14
members of the opposition parties were present
together with stalwarts from the three political parties.
The meeting, it was gathered, was to perfect
relationship between the two opposition parties in the
seventh Assembly. Each of the party’s caucus had earlier
met to fine tune their positions in the said
‘arrangement’ before the joint stakeholders’ meeting
was held last week.
Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that some of the
issues discussed at the meeting include the state’s
budget performance in relation to the House of
Assembly, financial situation of the state, 2015 general
election and a host of other important matters.
When contacted on phone, the House Minority Leader,
Honourable Rafiu Adekunle confirmed the meeting, but
allayed the fears of the public on the agenda of the
meeting, saying it was in the interest of the state and
not for public consumption.
He said the meeting “ was held to protect the interest
of Oyo State citizenry, especially the future of our
children.
