The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that a serving senator, Abdullahi Adamu, representing Nasarawa West senatorial district, is using fake employment letters to recruit members into the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
A statement signed by the state publicity secretary of the PDP, Mark Neto, urged Mr. Adamu, a former Nasarawa governor, to return to his constituency and concentrate on his job rather than resort to ‘fruitless antics to remain relevant.’
The statement claimed that the list of those recruited into the APC using this method would be presented to the public and sent to the national secretariat of APC as members of the party that defected with Mr. Adamu.
“The Nasarawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) wish to draw the attention of the general public and most especially its teaming supporters of a purported plan by senator Abdullahi Adamu representing Nasarawa west senatorial district to coarse people across the 147 electoral wards in the state into joining the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) in the name of job offer,” Mr. Neto said.
The PDP said it would not allow youth in Nasarawa be deceived into political thugs.
“Our  party will not watch desperate politicians turn our  young graduates and applicants into becoming political thugs by desperate politicians in the state while their families and children are given best of treatment in their various chosen careers.
“We urge such politicians to publish the employment offer in the media for the  public to see  rather than cajole innocent citizens take wrong steps in their lives,” it said.
In a prompt reaction, a close political associate of Mr. Adamu, Mohammed Idris, denied the allegation, describing it as ‘political blackmail.’
Mr. Idris, a former chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, who also defected to the APC from the PDP, said Mr. Adamu is not a chief executive that offers jobs but a legislator that makes laws.
