Rep Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara) has explained that the seemingly unending “reign of impunity” in the Bamanga Tukur led-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) forced some members of the House of Representatives to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ibrahim, who represents Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, is among the 37 members of the House of Representatives who formerly renounced their membership of the PDP recently.
The lawmaker spoke to newsmen in Omupo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state shortly after hosting the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in his constituency for a special prayer for peace and stability of Nigeria.
He accused Tukur of running the PDP as his personal estate thereby prompting the August 31 walkout staged by the Kawu Baraje-led new PDP. He debunked insinuation that their defection was driven by inordinate ambition.
He said “it is normal for people to insinuate, but I don’t know how they will want to describe the alleged inordinate ambition, but you can see what is happening within the PDP. And you can see how long since the beginning of this administration that key leaders of the party, stakeholders, governors and opinion leaders  have been shouting about the impunity in handling the party.
“Nobody is against the government of President Goodluck Jonathan, but the PDP is our party, the structures and the way we run the party. A group of people led by Dr. Bamanga Tukur decided to run the party like their personal business and there was so much noise that climaxed in the walkout in the last special convention of August 31. That was a signal,” he said. allocation of N 2.25 million for the printing of security document. When asked what that mean, one of our sources stated that “ask them not me. What are they printing that is security? When have they become the armed forces or any security agents that they now secretly print documents which will gulp such money?”
The board is the only one among all the health boards that will be printing ‘security document’. The board has also budgeted another N558 thousand for legal services when they are not enmeshed in any legal tussle, prompting the reason behind such allocation. A number of vehicles worth N16.5 million has also be earmarked for the operation of the board, while construction of an unnamed building in an unnamed location is set to gulp N50.5 million.
