A civil society group, Movement for Democracy Change and People's
Rights today organized a peaceful march today calling for the immediate
sacking of the Minister of Interior Affairs, Comrade Abba Moro and the
Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service David Shikfru Paddang
over the poor planning and execution of the Nigerian Immigration
Service recruitment exercise that led to the untimely death of at least
20 applicants last Saturday across Nigeria.
The group at a protest march to the Lagos State House of assembly led
by Comrade Raji Rasheed, and demanded the setting up of the probe
panel to investigate the ugly incident as well as fishing out officials
involved in the fatal incident.
In a statement issued at the end of the protest march, Comrade
Rasheed also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes commission
(EFCC) to investigate how many forms were sold, the amount of money
realized from the sales of the forms and the consultants to the NIS on
the recruitment exercise.
The group extended their condolences;to the families of the bereaved
and demanded that each of the deceased family be paid a sum, not less
than =N=50million as compensation.
