LEADER of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji
Yekini Adeojo, has stated that the Boko Haram insurgency in the
North-Eastern part of the country was being masterminded by some
political forces to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting in
2015.
Adeojo, who made the disclosure after the Oyo PDP Elders’ Committee,
held at the party’s secretariat in Dandaru area, Mokola, Ibadan, while
fielding questions from newsmen, also revealed that the party had
successfully harmonised its state executive to take care of all
interested parties, saying that all the main actors were carried along.
“We have succeeded in harmonising the executive committee in the
state and we have taken care of all interests. Jumoke Akinjide was in my
house and I have been carrying [Adebayo] Alao-Akala along all the
while.
“We have been on the issue of executive harmonisation for close to a
year and now, I can say we have succeeded. All the leaders, including
Alao-Akala, were carried along and
I was waiting for the signatures of
three main players, Senators Hosea Agboola, Teslim Folarin and
Honourable Muraina Ajibola, whose executive list had been authenticated
by the national leadership of the party.
“I have gotten the signatures of the trio to make sure that they
agree with the harmonisation. So, we have settled everything and have
put the issue of executives’ harmonisation behind us,” he said.
Adeojo stated that the issue of governorship ambition would not cause
problem within the party, noting that everyone would be given a
level-playing field.
When
asked whether the president had a chance in the 2015 presidential
election, the PDP chieftain said though the Nigerian electorate would
decide who they would vote for, the president had been transforming the
country.
