Fayose, Olubolade join forces, say APC’s days numbered in Ekiti

Former Police Affairs Minister, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (retd), on Sunday, formally joined forces with the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the June 21 election in Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose and announced that their coalition would rout the All Prigressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Olubolade, while speaking at a meeting of the PDP leaders and supporters in his Ipoti community in Ijero Local Government Area of the state, on Sunday, said: “I will work with Fayose. I will work hard to ensure that he wins. When he does, he would prepare the ground along with all of us to prepare for 2015.”
At the meeting held in Ipoti town hall, Olubolade contented that “APC government is a government of deceit and we are tired of deceit. So, we must work hard to vote them out of office on June 21.”
The former minister said “I have my followers. They will vote for you. You will get there. I will work for you. You are a grassroots man. My main assignment is for Fayose to win and he will see the effect of my work. APC is running a government of deceit and it must be booted out. Fayemi has put Ekiti in the valley of death. Ekiti must be rescued and only Fayose can do that.”
Olubolade said he was not a fair weather politician and would always abide with
the decision of the party.
He said: “For those asking why I have kept quiet all this while, I say there is no time limit to speak. I am not a politician who goes in search of greener pasture here and there. I am a disciplined party man and would always abide with the decisions of party leaders and I am not the type, who would betray his leader.”
Reacting to alleged APC leaders’ invitation to him to come and join their party, Olubolade said they were only chasing shadows, saying he was a disciplined party man and not a “fair weather politician.”
Fayise, in his response said enemies of the PDP had been put to shame, saying “those who thought PDP would collapse after the primary have been put to shame.”
Fayose thanked the leaders of the PDP in the state, saying, “our party has come out stronger. The primary has strenghtened our party. All the aspirants are qualified to be our party’s candidate and I am assuring you that we will work together.”
Addressing rallies in Ipoti, Iloro, Ijurin, Odo-Owa, Fayose promised to govern Ekiti better than the APC government is currently doing, claiming that the state had been “economically crippled by unpopular policies of the Fayemi-led administration.”
PDP chieftain assures of maximum votes from Ado
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Mr Lati Ajijola ,has described as laughable, the claim by the All Progressives Congress (APC), that Governor Kayode Fayemi, was adopted as the sole-candidate of the people of Ado-Ekiti, saying; “we in Ado Ekiti can say with 100 per cent assurance that votes of Ado people will go to the PDP overwhelmingly.”
Ajijola, in a statement issued today, said the campaign of calumny being orchestrated against the PDP governorship candidate, Mr Ayo Fayose, that the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, will be deposed was a function of “fear of imminent defeat on the part of the APC.”
He said: “I am a full-blooded son of Ado-Ekiti and from my interaction with Fayose, what Ado-Ekiti people will get from Fayose-led PDP government will be a total face-lift of the state capital, not removal of Ewi.”
Ajijola, who challenged the APC government in the state to embark on issue- based campaign, instead of peddling falsehood, added; “In the history of Ekiti state, has any governor done half of what Fayose did for Ado-Ekiti?
“Is it not a fact that it was Fayose that made Ado-Ekiti what it is today? Can anyone deny the fact that Fayose is the architect of the modern Ado-Ekiti?
“Apart from Old Garage to Ojumose and Atikankan to Baptist Church that Fayemi dualised, all the roads that were dualised in the state capital were done by Fayose.
“Fayose dualised Ijigbo - Ajilosun, Ijigbo - Ilawe, Fajuyi Park - Adebayo and Fajuyi Park - Bashiri roads. He also put street lights on the roads.
“Therefore, we in Ado-Ekiti will support Fayose and the PDP totally and I as a person, Iwant to say that those going around saying that Fayose will depose Kabiyesi, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti ,if elected, are only showing that they no longer have any meaningful thing to say.
“It is my advise that they should rather tell us what new thing they want to do for Ado-Ekiti, not lazy talks of removal of Ewi, which is a lie.”
My opponents will labour in vain —Fayemi
Ekiti State governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 21 election in the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said that the attempt by his opponents to unseat him will be a labour in vain at the end of the election.
Fayemi who said this while campaigning in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area at the weekend, said he was sure of a landslide victory at the election.
The governor, who spoke in Ilawe,  headquarters of the council area,  maintained that “all my opponents would labour in vain in their bid to unseat me.”
Apparently impressed by the mammoth crowd of residents of Ilawe, the council area headquarters, that welcomed him to the town. Fayemi said his victory at the poll is a foregone conclusion.
The governor noted that judging by the support and rousing welcome from the people of Ilawe, and the entire Ekiti South West, he would not need much campaign to coast home to victory as the people appreciate what he had done in the area.
Fayemi explained that the past three-and-a -half years of his administration had been marked with unprecedented success in governance and massive transformation of the state through life-changing policies and projects.
On the Governor’s campaign train were his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, Chief of Staff, Mr Yemi Adaramodu; and members of the state’s executive council.
Other communities visited by the governor’s campaign train included Ogotun and Igbara-Odo, where he was equally welcomed by large crowd of supporters. The governor also visited the palaces of traditional rulers where he received royal blessings on his re-election bid.
Members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ekiti South West Local Government Area also pledged their support for Fayemi’s re-election bid citing his various incentives for their members the latest being the elevation of principals to Grade Level 17.
The APC flag bearer described Ilawe as a very important town in the state hence his administration’s gesture of executing key projects and the empowering the indigenes of the community.
He identified the construction of Ado-Ilawe Road, Ilawe-Ibuji Road which connects the state with Ondo State, payment of social  security stipends to old people, renovation of schools, employment and empowerment opportunities for the indigenes of the community as some of the goodies enjoyed under his administration.
Fayose lauds Adeyeye, says commitment to PDP legendary
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, has hailed the former governorship aspirant of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, for his show of total commitment to the success of the PDP in the June 21, election, saying; “Adeyeye’s attitude is that of a statesman.”
Fayose, who was addressing a mammoth crowd of PDP supporters at Ise-Ekiti on Friday, promised to do everything within his reach to make sure Adeyeye gets the ministerial slot for Ekiti State.
The governorship candidate, who had earlier visited the Arinjale of Ise-Ekiti, in his palace, promised to be fair to all and build on his achievements in Ise-Ekiti, when elected was governor.
Also, in a show of appreciation to the people of Ajegunle community, Ise/Orun Local Government, Fayose promised to construct the 6km Ajegunle - Ise junction road, within the first one year of his administration if elected.
He urged eligible voters that were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to go to the Local Government INEC office to collect the cards, saying; “That is the only way you can all realise your dream of PDP wining the June 21 election.”
Also speaking at the campaign rally, which took place in all the wards in Ise/Orun Local Government, Adeyeye, said he decided to drop his personal ambition and support Fayose because of his love and commitment for the PDP.
He said; “Our detractors thought our party will disintegrate after the primary, but we have been able to prove them wrong.
We have shamed them and you can all see Fayose and Adeyeye, working together to ensure victory for our party.
“From what we are seeing here today, the present occupiers of the Ekiti State Government House must have seen that the game is up. Ise/Orun Local Government is totally for PDP and Fayose and the crowd here is a pointer to that.”
Adeyeye, who also thanked PDP supporters for coming out in large numbers to welcome Fayose, added that; “the interest of our party and Ekiti people is paramount and we must not allow anything to divide us.”
The campaign rally rounded off at about 8am at Kajola village, with thousands of PDP supporters carrying local lamps to receive the campaign trail
