‘Jonathan aides not telling him the truth’

President Goodluck Jonathan may be a nice person, but he is surrounded by people who do not want him to succeed, a member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, has said.

Addressing House correspondents at a special press conference tagged ‘Hot Seat’, El-Sudi (PDP, Taraba) said had Jonathan’s aides been telling him the truth, he would have performed better than he did.
He said unless the president does away with some people around

him, he would have enormous challenges ahead of him as 2015 draws nearer.
“I have been relating with the president, and I have travelled with him to Rwanda and other countries. He is a nice man, but he is surrounded by vultures. They don’t tell him the truth. To me, unless he changes them, he will have a lot of challenges,” he said.
Asked if he believed Jonathan should contest next year’s elections, El-Sudi said it is Nigerians who have the right to tell the president to re-contest based on his performance.
“To me, it is Nigerians that will decide if the president has done enough for them to re-elect him. But constitutionally, he has the right to re-contest. I am a PDP man, and if the party elects him at the primaries, I will definitely be with him,” he said.
However, El-Sudi said on budget performance, “the federal government has failed” them because of the poor implementation over the years, adding, “we approve budgets every year, but we don’t see them implemented.”
El-Sudi who said that since his election in 2011, he got 47 of his constituents into the Nigeria Police and 32 into the civil service, added that he has done many other projects in his constituency including provind over 100 sewing machines, 80 motorbikes, cars and others to empower the people.
