The All Progressives Congress (APC) has again shifted its ward congress in Kano State to Saturday.
Dr Mustapha Inuwa, the Chairman of the Congress Supervising Committee in the state, made the disclosure to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Kano on Wednesday.
He said the decision to shift the congress for the second time was taken during the party stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday in Kano.
Inuwa said that the decision was due to the late arrival of the materials and officials charged with the responsibility of overseeing the conduct of the exercise.
‘’We decided to extend the congress to Saturday in order to give all those wishing to contest the opportunity to purchase and return the forms as required by the law.
‘’According to the law, you must sell forms within two days,  give INEC notice two days before the time and display the list of candidates two days to the election day.
‘’Some of the important materials arrived in the state on Tuesday and those materials are very important to the conduct of the exercise,’’ he said.
According to him the meeting unanimously agreed to shift the ward congress in
order to ensure that due process is followed.
The chairman, however, said that the local government congress would now be held on Tuesday, April 15 instead of Saturday, April 12, while the date for the state congress remained unchanged.
Inuwa urged all those wishing to contest in the election to purchase nomination forms at designated banks and return same unfailingly on Wednesday, before 6:00 p.m.
He urged party members to show understanding with the committee as the change was meant to ensure justice and fairness to all parties.
NAN recalls that the party’s ward congress, which would have been conducted last Saturday, was shifted to Wednesday due to some logistic  problems. (NAN)
