The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probing the utilisation of the 2006 service wide vote has summoned the Accountant General to the Federation (AGF), Mr Jonah Otunla; Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sarah Alade and the Executive Director, Finance, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to explain their various roles in the alleged missing N59.6 billion Service Wide Vote in 2006.
The listed organisations were ordered to appear last Tuesday.
PAC chairman, Hon. Olamilekan Adeola (Lagos/ACN) further ordered the AGF to bring all documentary evidence related to the disbursement of the fund.
According to Adeola, the documents must include all bank transactions between July and December 2006, a copy of the federation account, copies of statements of accounts
through CBN for the period under review.
“We (PAC) are tired of all the excuses of all the agencies involved claiming ignorance at one stage or the other.” the PAC Chairman stated during the Committee’s meeting with some government organisation that reportedly benefited from the Service Wide Vote in 2006.
At the meeting, NNPC GM Accounts, Mr Sambo Aliyu told the House Committee that the Corporation did not receive any money from the Service Wide Vote in 2006.
“The cash was not released, we did not see any money,” Aliyu told the Committee.
