2015 Guber Poll: Sen Lar Dares Jang, Declares Intention To Contest[Leadership]

The senator representing Plateau Southern Senatorial Zone under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Victor Rampyal Lar has declared his intention to contest the 2015 governorship election in order to bring good governance to the people of the state. LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that all eyes are on the state governor, Da Jonah Jang, as many politicians in the state are seeking his blessing to be anointed to lead the state. Some have taken refuge in worship places, resorting to prayers by men of God to be anointed by Governor Jang who said he is waiting for God to give him his anointed successor. Senator Lar, who made his intention known while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Jos yesterday, said he is coming from a different background, and as a man who has a covenant with God, he is sure to win the election. He said, “There is time for everything; we are transiting from redemption agenda to divine visitation; if I am elected, Plateau will arrive at a point where it will no longer depend on statutory allocations from the federation account.” The senator, who is also a two-time member of the House of Representatives, said he will develop a five-point master plan for the state which includes education, agriculture, rural transformation, human capital development and mining. He also disclosed that the state has not at any point in time adopted zoning formula for governorship election, noting that all elections have been keenly contested by the three zones that make up the state. Speaking on the state of the nation, Senator Lar said he is worried about the security situation in the country, adding “Some people are instigating religious and inter- tribal suspicion; some people want to provoke mayhem and national calamity in the country.” He called on Nigerians to support the extension of the state of emergency in the three states of the North-east to bring to an end the activities of the Boko Haram sect in the area.
