Aregbesola insensitive to plight of workers – Akinbade
A gubernatorial hopeful in Osun State on the
platform of Labour Party, Engr Fatai Akinbade has
accused the Rauf Aregbesola administration of being
insensitive to the plight of workers and retirees in the
state.
Akinbade, in a statement by his Director Media,Mr
Kayode Oladeji, lamented that Aregbesola only takes
delight in putting the state and its people in the
dungeon through the acquisition of questionable
loans running into several billions of Naira
“It is disheartening that even these loans they take are
not attached to the needs of the people. They are just
being spent frivolously while the people are
wallowing in abject poverty and the future of state is
being mortgaged.”
He opined that it is crime against God and humanity
not to pay workers and retirees their entitlements as
and when due.
“These people are no beggars. Having served the state
meritoriously, they deserved to be paid their
entitlements. It is their rights because they had
worked for it. A situation whereby workers do not
receive their salaries on time and retirees are owed for
months,calls for concern.”
The former Secretary to the State Government
challenged the administration to explain to the
public why it has mandated banks to be deducting 10
percent out of the pension of the retirees whenever
the government chooses to pay them.
In the interim,Akinbade while commending the
workers and the retirees for their resilience in their
present state of hardship, implored them to be calm
and be law abiding, assuring that their days of anguish
would soon be a thing of the past when Aregbesola is
voted out.
