Boko Haram: Nigeria is at cross roads – Governor Chime
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Thursday,
called on Nigerians to intensify prayers over the
activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.
The Governor, who gave the charge while addressing
members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, at the
Government House, said the country was at cross-roads.
The teachers had marched round the major streets in
the state demanding the unconditional release of over
200 girls being held by the Boko Haram terrorists.
Chime, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on
inter party relations and conflict resolution, De. Chris
Asadu expressed hope that the security challenges
would be surmounted.
He said “there is no well meaning Nigerian who will sit
down and clap for the insurgents as they go around
killing and destroying institutions.
“Every well meaning Nigerian should be praying for
Nigeria; the country seems to be at cross-roads”.
“However, the government is doing everything
possible to bring back these girls safe and alive.
“By the grace of God, these demonic activities of
people anointed by the devil himself will come to an
end”, Chime added.
While calling for serious collaboration between the
members of the public and security agents, he urged
Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country.
“Let us be on our knees because what man cannot do,
God can do it.
“We want to also seize this opportunity to call on
Enugu residents and Nigerians generally to shine their
eyes; report any strange person or activity to security
agents. We shall conquer these enemies of our nation”,
he emphasized.
Earlier, the NUT led by its Principal Secretary,
Comrade Sam Umo-Inyang urged the federal
government to show true concern to the families of 173
teachers killed by terrorists in Borno and Yobe States.
“It is pertinent at this time to call on Nigerian
Government to bring back our girls safe and alive”, the
teachers also demanded.
