Why GEJ’s Campaign Coordinators Threatened To Dump PDP

In what they perceived as injustice meted on them, some coordinators of President Goodluck Jonathan’s re- election bid are threatening to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for another political party if the anomalies in the party are not addressed to accommodate all interests in the state. The state campaign coordinator, Alhaji Shu’aibu Ahmed Raba Gardama threatens to dump the party unless positive steps are taken to correct the anomalies they alleged are bedevilling the party in the state. Supporters of the PDP led by Honourable Umar Faruk stormed the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), addressing newsmen, Faruk said “since after the 2011 general elections that brought President Jonathan into power they were dumped by both the Presidency, state and the national chapter party. They further alleged that PDP presently is diminishing in the state because the state leadership of the party were not duly elected by party supporters alleging the Yero Yero led leadership were merely appointed by Governor Isa Yuguda at a public function. The aggrieved members of the party decried lack of positive activities going on in the party saying “all effort by the Federal Government to carry Shu’aibu at the Federal level was blocked by the state leadership of the Party and the state government.” He said the essence of politics was give and take but they are suffering in the party and the tenure is coming to an end and the powers that be wants to use and dump them again saying they would rather dump the party and look for better alternative party to contest future elections. However, Alhaji Shu’aibu confirmed that he received thousands of his supporters who asked him to dump the PDP and contest election under the umbrella of another political party but he has begged them to give him time to enable him contact the national leadership of the party to intervene into the matter and find the way addressing the problem amicably rather than dumping the party. It would be recalled that Alhaji Shuaibu Ahmed had contested the Bauchi state gubernatorial seat under the platform of the PDP with Governor Yuguda and former secretary to the Bauchi State Governor Nadada Umar in 2007 but lost the election and he was appointed the North East Campaign coordinator of Jonathan /Sambo in 2011, while Yuguda appointed Shu’aibu as Bauchi state coordinator of Jonathan /Sambo campaign organisation.[OsunDefender]
