Youths Storm PDP Campaign Office In Lafia

About 50 youths yesterday stormed the campaign office of Alh Yusuf Muhammed Agabi, the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial aspirant in the state and vandalised President Goodluck Jonathan’s billboard. Other billboards carrying the portrait of both the gubernatorial aspirant, Alh Agabi in the office located at Stadium Junction, Lafia, were also pulled down. The youths also vandalised billboards belonging to the state PDP chairman, Chief Yunana Iliya. The incident occurred a day after the minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, paid a condolence visit to the state governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura, at Government House, Lafia. The yet-to-be identified youths also pulled down the billboard in front of the aspirant’s car park along Jos road, Lafia. Eyewitnesses said, the youths went round the town destroying billboards belonging to Agabi and Jonathan. Danladi Gado, a trader close to the scene of the incident said, the youths were chanting songs and praises for the state APC as they vandalised the billboards. Already, tension has enveloped the entire Lafia town over fear of reprisal attacks. Checks round town revealed that over 12 billboards belonging to the Agabi have been pull down while 3 belonging to the state governor Umaru Tanko Almakura were also vandalise. The state PDP youth leader, Muhammad Barde, expressed dismay over the incident and called for restrain. When contacted, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Umar Ismaila Numan, said he was not aware of the incident. “If there is any complaint about that, I am yet to be briefed,” he said.
