Again, Boko Haram kills 42 in Borno
GUNMEN suspected to be Boko Haram
terrorists invaded Gurmushi village of Marte
Local Government Area of Borno State, killing
42 people, while 12 others sustained injuries.
This came after the terrorists razed the village.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, told the
Nigerian Tribune on phone that the gunmen
stormed the village in the early hours of
Wednesday, shooting sporadically and setting
houses ablaze.
“I counted over 40 corpses littering the ground,
while the village was razed completely. Most of
us ran into the bush for safety,” he said.
Another resident, who spoke to the British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa service
monitored in Maiduguri, said she fled the
village to the neighbouring Cameroon, adding
that 42 people were killed, while 12 injured
people were receiving treatment at a hospital
near the border.
Efforts to get to the spokesman of the 7
Division of the Nigerian Army, Colonel
Muhammed Dole and the state Police Public
Relations Officer, Gideon Jibrin, for
confirmation failed, as their phones were
switched off.[Nigerian Tribune]
