BOKO HARAM: Its dangerous to invite the US, Nigeria is now a laughing stock – Wamakko

The Governor of Sokoto state has faulted Goodluck Jonathan for accept foreign aid in combating Boko Haram menace. Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, yesterday expressed reservation over the involvement of foreign powers in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency in the country, ThisDay reports. He said Boko Haram insurgency would soon be history, as Nigeria was capable of overcoming the problem. While speaking during an interview with journalists on the occasion of Democracy Day at Government House, Sokoto, Wamakko said it was a dangerous trend to involve the United States of America, United Kingdom and other foreign powers in tackling the security challenges bedevilling the country. He faulted President Goodluck Jonathan for attending the security summit in Paris, France, saying the Nigerian military was capable of overcoming the insurgents. He noted that the intervention of foreign powers in any nation left it worse than they met it, pointing out that Nigeria and its leaders have been turned to a laughing stock in the committee of nations, for seeking help from foreign powers.
