Gov polls: Labour Party ‘ll spring surprises in Ekiti, Osun —Nwanyanwu
Ahead of the Ekiti and Osun States
governorship elections, the National Chairman
of Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, has
declared that the party was set to spring
surprises in the two states by unseating the
incumbents, Dr Kayode Fayemi and Mr Rauf
Aregbesola, democratically.
Nwanyanwu, who stated this in Abuja, while
receiving the one-time chairman of the Osun
State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, who was at the
national secretariat of the LP to submit his letter
of intent to contest the governorship of the state
on the platform of the party, accused the All
Progressives Congress (APC), of promoting
violence in the stronghold states of LP in order
to silence it.
According to him, “this time around, we are
aware of the antics of Governor Aregbesola in
Osun State to truncate our victory, himself and
government have been harassing and,
intimidating our members in Osun State in order
to blackmail and silence them, they are
threatening that if any other party wins the
election, heaven will fall but I can assure you
that we will win the election and let heaven
falls, we have enough men to hold the heaven if
it falls”.
“You can see why Governor Olusegun Mimiko,
is performing wonders in Ondo State today, he
is the only progressive governor in Nigeria
today, we want to expand the good things he is
doing to other states, he is spending the state
money to the people of the state, he has no
godfather, LP is a democratic party, we don’t
believe in violence, we will win in free, fair and
credible elections,” he declared.
According to him, “APC has no respect for law
and order, they didn’t believe in our impressive
outing in Ekiti, they went hay wire, shortly after
our campaign in Ikere-Ekiti, they went on
rampage and destroyed every thing on sight.’’
, including the cameras and vehicles of a private
television station”.
He said that the leadership of the party would
continue to protect its members nationwide in
prosecuting all the elections between now and
2015 in order to get more credible elected as
governors, members of the National and State
houses of Assemblies in other to make the
Country a better place for all and sundry
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Akinbade promised to
deliver the state to the Labour Party at the poll
based on his experience in the administration of
the state spanning over 20 years during which
he had served under various administrations as
a three times commissioner, state chairman of
the PDP and Secretary to the State Government
(,SSG.)
Alhaji Akinbade assured that the victory of LP
in the election was on sight based on its rising
profile within the last six months he moved in
with his supporters promised that all the anti-
people policies introduced by the Aregbesola
administration
He said his government would focus basically
on mechanised farming and industrialisation of
Osun state noting that the state had arable land
that needed to be cultivated to make the state
the food basket of the nation.
Said he,” We are going to change the education
policy in the state. The one that is being used is
dragging us backward. The state was 26th in the
last result released by WAEC. This is affecting
us badly,we are going to focus on two major
programs; mechanised and industrialisation.
Agriculture will take the army of our youths
from cleaning the streets; from the YES
programme”.
