Party Exco: Mu’azu Directs Conduct Of Congress In Yobe
Following a letter by the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC)
which nullified the executive body of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe
State, the national chairman of the party, Dr.
Adamu Mu’azu, has directed the conduct of
a congress of the state chapter in order to
constitute a party executive body.
The development is sequel to a meeting
between Mu’azu and the leaders of the party
in Yobe State at the party’s national
headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
It was gathered that Mu’azu expressed
concern over the situation and directed the
vice chairman of the party from the North
East, Senator Girigiri Lawal, to convene a
meeting with other party stakeholders from
the state to resolve the issue. The meeting
has been scheduled to hold in Bauchi State
at a yet to be fixed date.
Confirming the development, a chieftain of
Yobe PDP, who sought anonymity said,
“Yes, the national chairman drew our
attention to a letter from INEC and he gave
us a mandate to settle the issue.
“He specifically directed the vice chairman
from the north east, who incidentally is from
Yobe State to convene a meeting with all
stakeholders as soon as possible so that we
can get the issue resolved.
