Gunmen kill Kwara LG official, injure others
The treasurer of the Kaiama Emirate Council, Mr Baba
Seriki-Sanu, has been reportedly shot dead by
unknown gunmen.
Seriki-Sanu, who was a staff of Kaiama Local
Government Area of Kwara State was heading to Ilorin
by bus for a screening exercise by the state Local
Government Service Commission when the gunmen
attacked him and his other colleagues between Kaiama
town and Gwaria, another village in the local council.
It was gathered that Seriki-Sanu died on the spot while
the other victims were inflicted with machete cuts.
The Divisional Police Officer, Kaiama, Mr Christopher
Okun, confirmed the incident. He stated that no arrest
had been made so far.
The chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area,
Alhaji Alhassan Bagudu described the incident as
shocking and pathetic.
We learnt that the deceased had been
buried according to Islamic rites while the surviving
victims were being treated in an undisclosed hospital.
