APC: Group defends its early campaigns for Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan’s supporters under the aegis of
“GEJites Volunteers” have dismissed the claim by the All
Progressives Congress (APC) that its early campaigns were
“callous and insensitive” to the challenge of insecurity in the
country.
In a rebuttal signed by the Chairman and the National
Coordinator of GEJites Volunteers, Chief Anthony Tosan Prest,
the group denied the allegation that it had started campaigning
for President Jonathan.
The group, which said it was well informed that campaigns
could not start until the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) lifted the embargo, said it was just
mobilising support for the person it thought could solve the
country’s problems.
It added its decision to mobilise support for the President
stemmed from the fact that Jonathan had so far remained the
hardest working President ever in the history of Nigeria. “The
APC should know that Nigeria is a free country and everyone
has the right to support whoever he or she wants, even the
freedom of association is guaranteed.
