Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has congratulated the
Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of fasting during the holy
month of Ramadan, charging insurgents to sheath their sword in adherence
to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
In a press release by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs
Olufunmilayo Wakama, Amosun admonished adherents of Islam to continue to
pray for peace and stability of the nation, particularly during this
trying period.
The governor, who noted that Islam is a religion of peace, enjoined
those behind the bombings in some parts of the country to sheath their
sword in the spirit of the season and in adherence to the teachings of
Prophet Mohammed so as to find peaceful means
to express their
grievances.
“As Muslims, we must not allow the significance of the season to be
lost on us. We have fasted and prayed in the holy month for Nigeria so
that the nation can overcome its current challenges. I enjoin you all to
continue to demonstrate this spirituality as you support and show love
to one another,” he said.
Amosun wished the Muslim Ummah a joyous celebration.
