Ebonyi state, governor, Martin Elechi, on Thursday, said that he was not sure that he would contest a senatorial position in the Ebonyi Central zone, in the 2015 general elections. Elechi, who stated this when the leadership of Ebonyi Youth Assembly paid him a visit and urged him to contest for Senate, said that he was still battling to complete the numerous projects he embarked upon before the expiration his tenure in 2015. He noted that his stand on the next general election was in line with the preaching of President Goodluck Jonathan that they should, “do things like people who are law abiding” because there was no need to heat the polity up, as there was so much to be done with the remaining period. “I am still battling on how to get loans to complete those projects that must be completed within my tenure. And those that should be continued after my tenure has expired, another administration will continue with it. “You have demonstrated your decision to conscript me to the senate. I am praying to come out of this prison where I am today and you are asking me to continue with another prison. Please this is not the time,” Elechi said. Speaking, the leader of Ebonyi Youths Assembly (EYA), Chinedu Ogah, said they were there to ask the governor to contest for senate and added that they had concluded every arrangements to start the ball rolling for the political campaigns for the Governor. Ogah said that the union had acquired office accommodation in each of the four local government areas in the senatorial zone to be used for the campaign purposes.
