EKITI 2014: PDP replies Tinubu •Says ‘we will win Ekiti election convincingly’

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, has described a statement credited to the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, on allegations of rigging the election as “reckless talk,” saying “we will win the election convincingly.” Fayose said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, in reaction to Tinubu’s allegation that PDP was planning to rig the election that “Tinubu is not in tune with reality on ground in Ekiti.” According to the statement signed by his media aide, Mr Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said “Tinubu is still living in the past and I am advising him to send a fact finding team he can trust to Ekiti which will advise him better not to expend his resources on a failed project.” According to him, “propaganda, name calling and character assassination have become ways of life of the APC and what we know is that Tinubu had only revealed publicly what the APC has planned
to do knowing fully that it cannot win the June 21 election.” He claimed that “the grand plan of APC is to cause mayhem before and during the election in Ekiti State so as to discredit the election results,” saying “one of their strategies is collusion with corrupt Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in Ekiti State by buying of voter’s card from unsuspecting Ekiti people with N2,000 or N5,000.” He also alleged that “during my campaign tour to rural areas in Ekiti, many people told me that some APC chieftains came to purchase their cards on the promise to return them but failed to do so,” and added that “we have lodged complaints at the appropriate quarters and PDP is battle-ready to prevent rigging of this poll by whosoever.” He said “it is the way of life of the APC and its leaders to accuse people of what they intend to do,” saying “Fayemi has destroyed education, put Ekiti in debt, impoverished Ekiti people through capital flight. Nobody really wants to return APC to power in this state. APC is like leprosy to the people. “If Tinubu has alliance with INEC, it is better for him to collect the money he has given to INEC because it will not work. Ekiti people have rejected Fayemi and APC.”
