Worried by the growing insecurity in
the nation, governors of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) have said
they are committed to working with
the federal government to ensure that
all the schoolgirls abducted from the
Government Girls’ Secondary School,
Chibok, Borno State, are returned to
their families unharmed.
The governors, under the aegis of the
Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF),
made this known in a statement issued
by the chairman of the forum, Owelle
Rochas Okorocha, and signed by his
media assistant, Esohe Eboigbe, in
Abuja yesterday.
“The abduction of these innocent
schoolgirls is an assault on our nation,
an attack on civility and
constitutionalism and a colossal
descent to barbarism, which is
unacceptable and should be combated
by all patriots.
“Once rescued, we will support the
parents and government of Borno
State to ensure that our girls all
receive treatment for the physical and
psychological
trauma they might have
suffered in captivity. We shall also
undertake the rebuilding of the
Government Girls Secondary School,
Chibok, to ensure that the students are
able to resume normal life”, the APC
governors stated.
According to the forum, terrorism
must be terminated before the country
can experience stability and
development, hence the more reason
why they are ready to work with the
federal government to ensure this is
done.
“More than ever before, we are
resolute in our determination to move
our dear nation forward. The
successful fight against terrorism is a
critical precondition for stability and
constitutional governance. Together
with all progressives and patriots, we
will join hands to restore peace all
over Nigeria,” the forum said.
The forum also pledged to support all
the victims of Nyanya bomb blast with
N100 million.
