AS the governorship election in Osun State draws near,
indigenes of Ilobu-Osun in Irepodun Local
Government Area of Osun State resident in Akure,
Ondo State, have urged their kinsmen to consider the
development of the community in casting their votes in
the election.
The people, while speaking in Akure through Kasali
Akande and Yisau Kareem, regretted that the
community had suffered neglect from successive
administrations in the state.
They contended that the people should not consider
party interest or any other sentiments in the coming
election, but to cast their votes for any of the
candidates who has plan to develop Ilobu community.
While recalling that Ilobu is blessed with large expanse
of land, the people appealed for the establishment of a
higher institution in the town.
They also called for the reconstruction of the bridge
connecting the town with neighbouring communities.
According to them, the bridge, which was constructed
during the colonial era, had become an eyesore as
motorists
compete with one another to pass through it.
Apart from this, the Akure-based Ilobu residents want
the incoming administration in the state to take over
the reconstruction of the major road that links
neighbouring Oyo and Kwara States, noting that the era
of classifying certain roads as belonging to the Federal
Government was over.
They, however, warned sons and daughters of the
community to refrain from being used as political
thugs, advising that political gladiators should play the
game according to the rules.
