Rivers State leadership of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
has appealed to the traditional
ruler of Rumueme kingdom, His
Highness Nyeweli Omunakwe
Nsirim to call Governor Rotimi
Amaechi to order and stop using
state resources to pursue his
personal agenda.
State PDP chairman, Chief Felix
Obuah, made the appeal when he
led the party’s executive on a
courtesy call on the monarch at
his palace yesterday.
Obuah recalled that the party
collectively supported Amaechi to
become governor, but lamented
that rather than develop the state,
he was committing state resources
to sponsoring the opposition
party to achieve a selfish aim.
Appealing to King Nsirim, who he
describe as a prominent
traditional ruler in the state, to
call his son (Amaechi) to order
and use the state resources to
develop the 23 local government
areas of the state, Obuah said:
“Instead of using our resources to
develop the 23 local government
areas, he has diverted our
resources to things that are not
meaningful, and acceptable to our
people.
“As our leader, we plead that you
tell the governor to use our
resources judiciously to develop
the 23 local government areas of
the state so that our people will
have a sense of belonging and the
state can be reckoned with again.”
He also solicited the support of
the monarch and his people ahead
of the 2015 elections, saying, with
the support of the royal father,
“Rivers State and PDP is for
President Goodluck Jonathan.”
Responding, King Nsirim said his
kingdom would give 100 per cent
support to President Jonathan
and the PDP, adding: “Myself and
the chiefs of this Rumueme
Kingdom are very happy to
receive you in this place today.
This Rumueme Kingdom is for
Jonathan and PDP, no more no
less.”
