The All Progressives Congress (APC)
in Rivers State has said the comments
credited to the representative of the
supervising minister of education,
Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, before
the House of Representatives’
Committee on Education on the
welfare of the striking lecturers of
polytechnics and colleges of education
in the country is an indication that the
minister has a secret agenda against
the institutions.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt
yesterday and signed by Eze
Chukwuemeka Eze, the senior special
assistant on Media to the its chairman
in the state, the APC alleged that
Wike’s representative told the House
Committee on Education that there
was no provision
for the payment of
salary arrears of the striking lecturers
in the 2014 budget of the Federal
Ministry of Education.
The party said “Any doubts about
Wike’s wickedness became erased
when he two days ago informed the
House Committee on Education
through a representative that the
Ministry of Education under his watch
made no provision for the salary
arrears of striking polytechnic and
college of education lecturers in the
2014 Budget of the Ministry.”
