APC chieftain cautions security agencies against partisanship
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti
State, Mr Ayoleke Adu, has cautioned the police and other
security agencies that would participate in the processes of
Saturday’s governorship election in the state against being
partisanship.
Adu, who addressed newsmen in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti East
Local Government Area of the state, also advised the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), “to
ensure that the election is conclusive and that results are
announced promptly in a transparent manner, immediately
after the polls.”
Adu who spoke at an empowerment programme and
campaign rally he organised in Omuo, said “all eyes are on
the security agencies and INEC to provide a level playing
field for all the parties and allow people’s vote to count.”
He said “the only thing we are asking for is that the police
and other security agencies in the state should be impartial
and allow free, fair and credible election to hold on
Saturday.”
The APC chieftain expressed optimism that Governor
Kayode Fayemi, would “win the election convincingly
because of his track records and the determination of Ekiti
people to vote for performance and continuity,” saying
“those who think the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will
use Ekiti election to penetrate the South-West, would be
disappointed because the party has not done anything to
deserve people’s vote in the region.”
According to him, the Federal Government’s
“abandonment of many projects in the state is affecting the
fortune of the PDP in the state.”
Adu also charged the Ekiti electorate to be vigilant and
report any strange faces on the day of election to the police
and other security agencies.
